 Non-Profit License Plates
Snowmobile North Dakota (SND) started working with the ND Motor Vehicle Department regarding non-profit license plates offered in ND a couple seasons ago. Non-profit license plates are plates specifically designed for a non-profit organization. In order to qualify for this program, the organization has to carry a 501 c 3 status with the Internal Revenue Service which SND acquired in the spring of 2009.
The non-profit license plates consist of five numbers and the non-profit organizations logo. The five numbers are selected from a series of numbers which are provided to the non-profit organization once it’s participating in the program. The non-profit license plates cost $25 annually and the fee is paid when registering or renewing a motor vehicle registration. The $25 is split and $10 is provided to the ND Motor Vehicle Department for the license plates and administrative costs and the remaining $15 is donated to the non-profit organization. This donation is provided annually as people join the program or renew a non-profit license plate. What a great way to help with fundraising and promote SND! Anyone that has a personalized plate that wants to keep it on the non-profit license plate will need to pay $25 for the personalization, for a total of $50 annually. Keeping the same license plate number (even if it isn’t personalized) is considered a personalized plate when placed on a non-profit license plate.
The Snowmobile North Dakota Board of Directors would like to participate in this program and needs at least 50 people to participate in the program. In order to participate in the program please complete the required ND Motor Vehicle Department forms. This form along with payment of $25 should be mailed directly to SND.

Once SND acquires 50 forms and payments from the participants, the information will be provided to the ND Motor Vehicle Department for final implementation of the program.
