Nomination Process

Snowmobile North Dakota’s Hall of Fame program annually recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport of snowmobiling in North Dakota.  The contributions may include but are not limited too the establishment of Snowmobile North Dakota, the Snowmobile North Dakota Board of Directors, and spending countless hours volunteering for local club and trail association activities. 

Criteria:
The criteria for selecting individuals to the Snowmobile North Dakota Hall of Fame are as follows:

1. A nominee must be either a member of Snowmobile North Dakota or have served and/or assisted the organization while achieving/maintaining a career of excellence in promoting the sport of snowmobiling in the state of North Dakota, while fulfilling several of the following contributions.

List of Contributions:
A. Individuals who have made advancements in the form of invention, innovation, and/or development of machines and equipment.  (i.e.:  drags)
B. Trail and program developers who have initiated programs or ways to further advance the sport of snowmobiling in North Dakota.
C. Volunteers and club organizers who have led efforts to improve the sport, deserve special recognition. 
D. Publishers and journalists who have brought to attention the uses of snowmobiling to the general public.
E. Served on the Snowmobile North Dakota Board of Directors and provided innovative projects, enhancements, and profound awareness of the sport of snowmobiling to the organization.
F. Public administrators who have initiated programs and development in the sport of snowmobiling through either local or statewide efforts. 

Format:  Any format is acceptable, following are some suggestions.
 
1. Present information in a folder or three ring binder, etc.
2. Enclose pages in plastic shields (this makes it easy to copy and preserves the information better).
3. Cover sheet could include Name of Nominee, Person making nomination, Sponsor or supporting organization, and category of contribution(s) (it makes for easy reference).

Snowmobile North Dakota accepts nominations through April 1st of each year.  The nominations are then reviewed by the Hall of Fame Committee consisting of five SND Board of Directors selected by the current SND President.  The Hall of Fame Committee submits their ratings and comments to the SND Board of Directors for review by May 1st of each year.  Sponsors of these nominations are notified by September 1st of the status of their candidate.  The SND Hall of Fame Candidates will be announced at the Annual Snowmobile North Dakota Convention.

Nominee:  The candidate eligible for the SND Hall of Fame.
Person Making Nomination:  The individual who completes the nomination process for the candidate and answers questions, notifications, and additional correspondence.
Sponsor or Supporting Organization:  The organization or individual who promotes the candidate.
Representative:  A representative of the organization or the individual who will present the candidate during the award ceremony at the Annual Snowmobile North Dakota Convention.

Your Nomination Must Include:
 
 1.  Name of Nominee:  Correct spelling, current address, phone number, name of spouse.

 2.  Photo of Nominee:  Approximately 3” X 3” portrait view of nominee.

 3.  Person Making Nomination:  Name, address, and phone number.

 4.  Sponsor or Supporting Organization:  Name.

 5.  Representative:  Name.

6.  Contribution(s):  Inventor, Designer, Manufacturer, Trail and Program Developers, Volunteer, Club Organizer, Publisher and/or Journalist.

 7.  Years of Service:  This includes all years of participation in snowmobiling.

8.  Other Significant Information:  Letters of support, News articles, Examples of Work, References, and Pictures.
